You never know what a place will be like when you first walk in the door. But BreaCan... it has just felt so welcoming and comfortable.

For Women With Gynaecological Cancer

Each year around 1000 Victorian women are diagnosed with cervical, ovarian, uterine/endometrial and vulval cancers. There are few support services in the community for these women.

BreaCan aims to tailor the support service offered to women living with these cancers and to improve awareness of BreaCan within the gynaecological cancer sector. The service understands that while there are commonalities among women diagnosed with gynaecological cancer and breast cancer, there are unique issues that need to be acknowledged.

BreaCan has two trained volunteers who are themselves living with a gynaecological cancer. All volunteers have been trained to ensure they have an understanding of gynaecological cancers and can provide support to all women accessing the service.

Information sessions are organised to ensure that topics covered are relevant to women with gynaecological cancers and on occasion specific to their needs. The BreaCan library also has a variety of books, DVDs and resources. A list of recommended resources can be downloaded here.
