You never know what a place will be like when you first walk in the door. But BreaCan... it has just felt so welcoming and comfortable.

For Young Women

Young women living with breast or gynaecologcial cancer have specific concerns and needs. A cancer diagnosis is always a shock, but for young women it can be particularly devastating. They are least likely to know someone in the same situation and many report feeling socially isolated. Fertility and relationship issues may also be particularly relevant.

BreaCan offers young women an opportunity to access information and talk with trained volunteers, some of whom are at similar stages in their lives. BreaCan also ensures that several information sessions organised each year cover issues specific to young women.

Alongside the information sessions, BreaCan in collaboration with The Cancer Council Victoria and the Think Pink Foundation have produced a DVD and booklet focusing on young women and breast cancer. The DVD explores the issues affecting young women with breast cancer, as told by a group of young women, in their own words. If you would like a free copy of the DVD and booklet please, get in touch or call us directly on 1300 781 500. You can also download a copy of the booklet from our publications page.
