Support for You

BreaCan is an information and support service for people with breast cancer or gynaecological cancer, their friends and family.

BreaCan helps people with breast or gynaecological cancer. You can talk with a trained volunteer who has had breast cancer or gynaecological cancer herself and can understand what you are experiencing.

BreaCan has a resource centre on Lonsdale Street in the city where you can visit during opening hours without an appointment. The centre is run by friendly, welcoming staff and volunteers. The centre is a safe place to come and talk about your situation and experiences.

BreaCan has a library where you can borrow information about cancer treatment and find out about other services that may help you. BreaCan also runs regular information sessions on a variety of topics including medical treatments and surgery, nutrition and general health. Sometimes BreaCan provides workshops that are creative and fun, including singing, drumming, writing and painting.

BreaCan also runs a free ‘Feel Good’ Gentle Exercise program. This exercise program is for women recovering from surgery and provides safe and practical instruction on appropriate exercise.

BreaCan is free and confidential. You can come to BreaCan to talk or we can talk to you on the telephone.

To contact BreaCan, please ring 1300 781 500.

BreaCan is open 10am to 2pm every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (not open public holidays).

If you need to use an interpreter, please tell us what language you speak when you call. We will contact an interpreter service for you.
