You never know what a place will be like when you first walk in the door. But BreaCan... it has just felt so welcoming and comfortable.

 

BreaCan Staff

BreaCan is a service of Women' Health Victoria and employs a small staff team of dedicated and committed women. The service currently employs eight staff, some part-time and full-time. A number of staff members work directly alongside the peer support volunteers providing information and support to those accessing the Resource Centre. Other staff members work to promote the service and build relationships with key individuals and organisations working in the cancer sector.

Manager

Lee Kennedy began in the position of BreaCan manager in December 2012. As Manager, Lee has a variety of responsibilities including the management of staff, the implementation of the BreaCan Strategic Plan and to initiate, lead and develop projects. Lee also forms part of the Women’s Health Victoria management team and promotes the BreaCan service through initiating strong relationships with external stakeholders.


Fiona McRae

Team Leader, BreaCan Programs

Fiona joined BreaCan in October 2008. Fiona’s role involves the planning and coordination of all BreaCan programs and services and management of the BreaCan Programs team. She is responsible for coordinating BreaCan’s work in regional areas.

Fiona also assists in the operation of the Resource Centre.


Wendy Pullan

Wendy joined BreaCan in October 2008. Wendy works primarily in the Resource Centre alongside the BreaCan peer support volunteers. Her role involves providing information and support to service users. Part of Wendy’s role is to coordinate support for women living with advanced cancer and to plan the What’s On program of events.


Jennifer Rigby

Programs Officer

Jenny joined BreaCan in December 2011. She works with BreaCan peer support volunteers in the Resource Centre and also at the Royal Melbourne Hospital as part of the Bridge of Support program, providing information and support to service users. Jenny also coordinates support women living with a gynaecological cancer. She is also a reflexologist and registered nurse.

Robin began at BreaCan in June 2012. She works in the Resource Centre alongside the BreaCan peer support volunteers, providing information and support to service users. Another key area she is responsible for is coordinating support for young women affected by breast or a gynaecological cancer.


Kellie Holland

Kellie Holland

Volunteer and Consumer Participation Coordinator

Kellie joined BreaCan in November 2011. She coordinates the volunteering program, from recruitment and training of volunteers, including the trained peer support volunteers, to providing ongoing support and coordination. Her role also involves facilitating consumer participation and maintaining BreaCan’s resource library.

She also works in the Resource Centre along side BreaCan peer support volunteers.


Justine Dalla Riva

Communications and Information Management Coordinator

Justine began with BreaCan in December 2003. Her responsibilities include the development and implementation of the BreaCan Communication Plan, including the production and publication of communication materials. Justine is responsible for the implementation of service monitoring, reporting and data quality assurance. The BreaCan website and online communication strategy is another of Justine’s key areas.


Katherine Bradstreet

Administration Officer

Katherine began at BreaCan in September 2008. She is responsible for providing organisational support to staff and maintaining of office systems. She is responsible for coordinating the quarterly mail out of activities to over 2000 contacts.

Katherine also maintains service use data and co-ordinates records management and filing.


 

Annemarie Ferguson

Diversity Project Officer

Annemarie joined the BreaCan team in September 2012, working on a two year project funded by Cancer Australia, which looks at how BreaCan can provide better access to our service for those affected by breast and gynaecological cancers who come from a diverse background, such as those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.


 

Mary Macheras-Magias

Programs and Training Officer

Mary started at BreaCan in September 2012. Her role involves developing and coordinating the implementation of volunteer training programs. She also provides position relief in the Resource Centre, working alongside the BreaCan peer support volunteers, providing information and support to service users.
