Date: Thursday, 23/02/2017
Time: 11.00AM – 12.30PM
Location: Breacan Resource Centre
The pathology report plays an important role in cancer diagnosis and staging which helps to determine treatment options. Our presenter will explain what happens from the time of the initial biopsy to the test results, what information is provided on a report and the level of information you as a patient can expect, the criteria for staging a tumour, and the role of the pathologist within the medical team.
Dr Eric Sumithran is an anatomical pathologist at the Royal Women’s Hospital and has been involved with cancer diagnosis for more than 20 years. Eric was the Director of Laboratory Medicine at the old Queen Victoria Medical Centre (site of BreaCan’s current location) from 1985 until 1987.
